[net.followup] the Swiss, the Canadians and their guns

bstempleton@watmath.UUCP (Brad Templeton) (09/27/83)

We are told that we can't draw upon the examples of non-US countries
when talking about the US. While I can agree that the Swiss culture
is very different from that of the US, the same cannot be said for
Canada. Many Americans visiting our country ask "what's the difference?"
Sure, anybody can list whole varieties of minor differences, but they
are all insignificant compared to the similarities.

Gun control works here in Canada. Admittedly, part of the reason it
works here is because we have always had it, and are used it.
In one generation, however, the USA could get used to it as well.
