Thanks to all who responded to my request for information on how to perform a null modem transfer of the rough draft of my novel from my Amiga 2000 to my Mac Classic. Special thanks to Ken Corey who had exactly the right answer to my problem. It goes like this: 1) Go to your local purveyor of electronic components (I always avoid Radio Shack unless price or availability dictates). Purchase 1 null modem adapter and 1 gender bender (if necessary). [approx. $10] 2) With both computers deenergized, disconnect the regular modem cable from each modem. Connect the modem cable of the host computer to modem cable of the target computer using the adapter (and gender bender) to connect them. 3) Energize both computers and load their respective comm programs. (Because its a null modem, one can set the baud rate to the highest matching limit of both comm programs. Wow! 9600 baud!). 4) Download/upload like you would from a bbs (you must set up the host computer to xmit and the target computer to receive in the same protocol [xmodem, ymodem, zmodem, Kermit, etc). I found it an easy, inexpensive, and educational computer experience...and there aren't many of those. ============================================================================ Paul White plw@rayssdb My employer and I rarely share opinions ============================================================================
