[comp.sys.mac.misc] Strangeness in simm land

hayward@husc3.harvard.edu (06/02/91)

Hey Folks,
I have a (yet another) question regarding simms. Has anyone ever heard
of "piggy-backing" four 256K simms on a board to make a 1meg. SIMM? Well when I
opened my Mac+ the other day to upgrade from 2megs to 2.5megs that was what one
of the simm slots contained. Neither I or the tech who was helping me to
install the extra RAM had ever seen (or heard) of such a thing. Does anyone out
there know anything about this strangeness? My next problem/question is that
my mac isn't recognising the new RAM that I've installed. I've cut the proper
resistor and all but the beast just wont recognise the extra RAM. I can only
geuss that it might be one of two things. Fist the strange RAM already
installed or another piece that I know very little about called a "MaxPlus"
made by MacMemory Inc. it is supposed to be some sort of "RAM saver". It is a
board that is inserted into two of the ROM holders I know practicaly nothing
about this device and would really appreciate and knowledge that could be
passed my way regarding the thing. Even a phone number for the company would be
helpfull. I'm anxious to get that extra RAM installed and working.

			Thanks in advance,

There is a company that does this, I have their literature and I'll e-mail
info to hayward@... and anyone else that wants it. We were thinking of
getting some of their products, then the price of 1 meg simms dropped...
