A simple solution for your first problem: Try putting a copy of the INIT into the (main) System Folder or (better) move the INIT fron the Extensions Folder (the Systems "Drag" default) to the System Folder proper. This should solve your first problem. Explanation: Original Apple software will only search the main System Folder and the compatibility department missed one more importent issue.
