[comp.sys.mac.misc] How can I make the print dialog non-modal?

long@mcntsh.enet.dec.com (Rich Long) (06/08/91)

Where is the dialog that says "Printing <name>. To cancel, hold down the
Command key and type a period"? For Word 4.0, I'm trying to make it
non-modal, so I can switch out during printing (this is what Print Aid does,
but I can't get it to work under 7.0).

I've looked through ALRTs and DLOGs in the System file, the Imagewriter
driver, and Word, but I can't find it! If it's in the ROM, is there some way
 I can override it?

 Thanks for any help!
(as I continue to wait for a 7.0 Imagewriter spooler. Sigh.)

On a somewhat related note, have you noticed that the print dialog in Word
is modal and has all the menus greyed, but when you select a menu the items
themselves are not greyed and are usable.

At least, that is what happens on my LC 4/40 w/7.0, Word 4.00a.

Raymond.
