Never mind about the fix I posted yesterday to dumpdir. It turns out that we were running and antiquated dumpdir and it was only by coincidence that I had put those two fclose()'s in before recompiling (had I simply recompiled, as I did this afternoon, the problem would have (and did) vanish)
