Please excuse me if this is a dumb question, but I'm going slightly nutz... The other day, my Mac IIcx crashed rather hard. So hard, in fact, I had to reinstall the System file (6.0.5... yes, I'm still to chicken to go for System 7). That seemed to do the trick (and thanks to Norton Utilities to pointing me at a corrupt system file), but I noticed a *very* odd thing... some applications that I run use the Monaco font in the 10 point size. Before the crash, this font displayed very nicely. *After* the crash, the font has some serious problems with the jaggies. I've verified that it's Monaco 10 by using my favorite word-processor to duplicate what I saw in my application (which is MYM 4.0, if anyone cares). My immediate assumption is that, once apon a time, I installed a Monaco 10 font in my system file (I use suitcase II for most fonts, and those suitcases seemed still active and unharmed, but even so I searched for a suitcase that had Monaco 10 in it and couldn't) and the fresh system I installed didn't have it... but wait... as I type this I realize that I only recently installed 6.0.5, which would imply that it was a fresh system not too long ago, and it's been recently enough that I'd recall installing a Monaco 10 font into the system. So, fellow netters, I ask your help in solving my mystery: (1) What happened to my Monaco 10 font? and (2) Does anyone know where I can *get* Monaco 10 font to replace the old one? If monaco was an ATM font, I'd guess that I didn't have ATM on or the outline font was trashed, but it's not. In case this is any help, here is a system configuration report from MacEnvy: MacEnvy System Environment Report (2.1) ========================================================================== Filename: MacEnvy Report Report Date: Monday, June 10, 1991 11:18:03 PM ========================================================================== Item Type/Status ---------------- -------------------------------------------------------- Machine: Macintosh IIcx Memory: 4096K (4 megabytes) Processor: Motorola 68030 Coprocessor: MC68882 installed PMMU Chip: Installed (in 68030) Sound Chip: Installed (ASC rev.8) Graphics: Color QuickDraw Keyboard: ADB Extended (U.S.) ADB Devices: 2 devices attached SCSI Chip: NCR 53C80 installed Clock Chip: New clock chip (256 bytes) ROM Version: 256K (Version 120), rev. 3 ROM C7 Info: $97221136 (IIx,IIcx,SE/30) System: Version 6.0.5 (341K) Finder: Version 6.1.5 MultiFinder: Version 6.0.5 (inactive) Localized For: U.S./Canada (0) File System: HFS (Hierarchical) Debugger: No debugger installed RAM Cache: 64K, cache enabled Current App: "ZTerm 0.85" User Name: (not specified) Printing To: DeskWriter 2.1 (2.1) AppleTalk*Controller: SWIM chip (MFM/GCR) Other Drives: None Boot Volume: Feigendisk (78 MB) Volume Use: 58816K used, 19920K free Catalog Info: 893 files, 162 folders Catalog Size: 625K + 625K extents Last Backup: 4/6/91 (65 days ago) Boot Blocks: Version 23 Startup App: "Finder" Thanks in advance for your help! I've got lots of inits installed, too, and I'd be glad to tell you all about them if you think that would help :-) -- Eric R. Feigenson UUCP: mit-eddie!progress!erf Progress Software Corp.
