[comp.sys.mac.misc] MacChuck, Orange386, and an 8051 cross compilier

I am doing some work where I use a cross compilier that runs
on a PC. I want to be able to use the Mac for editing and
communications with the target computer, but I need to talk
to the PC. I am looking into several solutions that I would like
some feedback on.

The cheapest is using MacChuck from Vano Associates, Inc. (New Brighton, MN).
I believe that this is a remote control for the IBM, from the Mac.
Has anyone used this, and what is it like? How does it compare with a TOPS
network.

Probably the most expensive is a coprocessor, either the Orange386 or
the Mac286 from Orange Micro, Inc. I'm borrowing an old Mac286 right now
and it does fairly well. What would increase the speed of operations
would be the use of Mac memory as an E: drive. Are device drivers like
that availavble? Also, can the Mac286 use excess ram for ram-disk?
I'd also like to know what others feel about the value of these boards.

The best solution would be a 8051 c cross compilier for the Mac. Is there
such a beast, if so who makes it?
