The Alaskan survival kit includes a gun and ammunition so you can hunt for
your FOOD, you twit!  And a damn good idea, too, since you may be hundreds
of miles from anything.  Guns *do* have their place.  A hooligans pocket
is *not* one of them, but as any person who tries to live off the land will
tell you, you can't do it without something to hunt with (and a bow-and-arrow
just don't make it on grizzlies and moose).  To make a gross generalization,
guns are okay so long as they are used as a tool for survival, and naturally
I do not consider using them as weapons or threats to earn money as part of
survival.
