[comp.sys.mac.misc] System 7.0 Installer does not recognize hard drive

hsieh@rscene.hac.com (Julia Hsieh) (06/25/91)

I was helping a friend install System 7.0 on her Mac IIci 5/80. She
purchased the upgrade, but didn't notice that she needed to upgrade
the driver to her hard drive until she got to the section on virtual
memory.

When we run the Installer script on Disk Tools, there are no SCSI
devices found, but the hard drive seems to work fine (with Virtual
turned on, might I add). Should I be worried?

Thanks.

Julia

If the memory control panel device does not complain when you turn on virtual,
saying you need to upgrade the driver, then you are probably OK. I could not
try virtual until I ran HDsetup and did this. I have an internal Quantum from
APS and I moved the Apple Conner 40meg to an external box, both run fine with
system 7 and virtual. The APS driver is already system 7 compatible.
