There's a neat little program called "United" that I downloaded from comp.binaries.mac a while back. It will take any number of segments, strip them of headers and footers, and combine them into one file. Note that the files must be in ASCII format for United to be able to read them. I don't know if it's still available on comp.binaries.mac - it was a week or two ago. It should be available somewhere at sumex-aim. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to search around there seriously - anybody else know where to find it? Disclaimer: I have absolutely no connection to the author of United. It's just a useful program that seems to work well. -- Draphsor vo'drun-Aelf draphsor@portia.stanford.edu

While reading comp.binaries.mac I do this: 1) save each segment into the same file (appended) 2) type 'mcvert filename' 3) and then 'rm filename.hqx' 4) what I have left over is something of the form 'filename.sit.bin' this file is a plain binary stuffit file ready for downloading. So far, this has worked no matter how many separate segments there are. The 'mcvert' source is available at sumex-aim.stanford.edu in the unix directory. It compiled fine on our system. You might also want to investigate related files like 'bhcomb', 'unsit', and so forth... --- Piper Keairnes ** General Consultant-UNIX/VM/IBM/MAC ** ar4@sage.cc.purdue.edu ** Macintosh Specialist ** Purdue Univ. Not only can you poke around in the source, it runs on the unix boxes here, so: a) it's faster than united on my SE (we've got sparcs) b) I can download the stuffit files instead of the bloated binhex files. -- Ted Woodward (ted@cs.utexas.edu) Death now has Extra Speed!
