I am about to embark on my first effort to write a Macintosh application - a very simple compiler for a home automation computer system. (The Enerlogic in case anyone is interested.) As the subject line says, someone out there has already written code I can use, and I'm one of those programmers who would rather make use of someone elses good code, rather than write my own. So, what I'm looking for is this: 1) Serial port interface - a menu for setting baud rate, and other parameters, as well as code to interface with the external device. 2) Text editor - a VERY SIMPLE text editor; no formats, no fonts, nothing fancy. Just insert, delete, find, change - miniWRITER from Dave Dunham is even more than I need. (But, if you're willing to part with the source, Dave, that would be fine.) I just got a copy of Bison (yacc for the mac), and I'm looking forward to using it, too. BTW, a number of people have told me that Prototyper and Lightspeed C are the two best ways to go for Mac development. But, according to the package, Prototyper creates Pascal, not C. Is it worth it to buy two compilers and Prototyper? Should I forget about Prototyper and write the interface from scratch? Should I write the application in Pascal? If I get source for 1 and/or 2 above, will it likely be C or Pascal? As always, thanks very much in advance for any assistance. Chuck Berg pyramid \ versatc >!leadsv!cberg sunncal /
