I would very much like an interpreter for converting PostScript .PS files to a bit map or some other useable format so that I may print out the file to a non-Postscript printer such as a HP DeskWriter or ImageWriter II. I don't know if the PostScript language is protected to prevent an interpreter such as this. Wasn't the PostScript language released to the public just recently? Isn't a new version supposed to be in the making? I think that this is an interesting question and any comments would be appreciated from the forum of students like me.

This sounds really good -- also it would be nice to have a utility that produces either a (big) bitmap, or (say) PICT format so it can be included in non-PS documents, OR EDITED, etc.

Yes, there are three PostScript (clone) interpreters available for the Mac: UltraScript (QMS), Freedom of Press (Custom Applications), and TScript. Street prices range from $75 to $250 for these three products. -- Siamak -- =========================================================== Siamak Masnavi Dept. of Computer Science, Queen Mary & Westfield College Mile End Road, London E1 4NS, UK ARPA: siamak%cs.qmw.ac.uk@nsfnet-relay.ac.uk BITNET: siamak%uk.ac.qmw.cs@UKACRL.BITNET ===========================================================
