A friend of mine recently let me use his 800k external drive for a while, and sure enough I managed to drop the thing and break it. I am now in the market to buy one as cheap as possible, external or internal. Any hints on simple fixes to try would be appreciated, I already opened it up and looked for any obvious problems. I can get my hands on some junked 400k's if that will help. On a related note, is there anything wrong with the assumption that an internal drive can be placed into an external case and be used as an external? Thanks for advice, leads, and/or hard drive sales. ______ kscott@locke.mmwb.ucsf.edu

I bought one some three years ago and it's still going strong! I'm not sure if they're still selling them, but it's worth a try -- their number is (415) 644-0516.
