This is a (desperate) followup to a post a couple of months back, in which it was determined that the cause of one's Apple 13" Color Monitor intermittently losing power (approx. 15 minutes after powerup) was a red suction-cup thingy referred to as the high-voltage cutoff capacitor. I involuntarily needed to get mine fixed, as it would no longer turn back on after losing power, and took said monitor to Apple dealer (AppleCare in effect), asking him to replace said specific part. Well, to make a long story short, I am not sure whether he did so. He really seems to be quite clueless in general, but after three trips to the shop, I now have two new boards in my monitor, and the problem persists. Question: is this capacitor part of either of the following boards (or am I still with my original HVCC?): 1. 661-0397 (power supply board) 2. 661-4399 (main logic board) I really need to know this, as I can now likely replicate the problem for him (when I got the monitor back after installation of board #2, it was way out of adjustment; turning up the brightness caused it to lose power pretty readily). One further thing; I noticed prior to any fixing that the left side of my picture was bowed inward pretty noticably (and still is)? Related? I do not want to lose use of my monitor for a fourth week without some more information... Would someone (please :) help me pinpoint this? Do I still have my original HVCC? [I'm finding it hard to believe otherwise...] -- -- Frank Malczewski (malczews@nunki.usc.edu)
