[comp.sys.mac.wanted] Outbound Mac Portable for Sale

jaraguso@athena.mit.edu (Joseph A Raguso) (11/12/90)

I recently purchased an Outbound Mac Portable Unit (4 weeks ago). I love the machine because it is incredibly versatile and it's everything the Mac Portable should have been. Unfortunately, I gambled that I would be getting a student loan to pay for the unit and I didn't get the loan. I now am in deperate financial straits and have to sell the machine. I spoke with Outbound on Friday and they have agreed to switch the registration name of the computer to the new owner thus giving them rights to the full

 warantee.
The major specs:
	16Mhz
BACKLIT LCD (thus you can use it anywhere)
8.3 lbs (1/2 the Mac portable)
1/2 physical dimensions of the Mac portable (thus not an electric
	    typwriter)
	2M RAM (expand to 8M)
	40M hard drive
1.44M floppy (can read IBM disks ??? yup, you should get Soft PC)
1M Hard RAM (expandable to 16M) Fully battery backed-up
	Great Briefcase carrying case
3H battery life, uses standard Tandy VCR batteries

It is as good as it sounds. In fact as most of you have probably read, Apple bought the technology rights for the machine and is leasing it back to Outbound. Outbound got around the infringement because the buyer has to supply the critical ROM chips (I've already had them installed). I paid $3800 for the system and am willing to let it go for significantly less. (maybe -$600) The machine would have originally been in the 4+ range but there was a student discount allowing me to get the best unit availab
