[comp.sys.mac.wanted] Want: DA runs an INIT/CDEV or an application.

To your first query, not as far as I know. The INITs are loaded by INIT16?
(maybe it's INIT14) in the system during the boot process. Since INIT's must
exist within the systems Heap, you would have to reserve room for them to load
later anyway and thus not gain anything. I would suggest you check out a
INIT/cdev control program (like INIT/cdev 3.0), it allows you to pick and
choose which INIT's and cdev's load and which don't during any boot.

As to your second query, I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at. Do you
want a DA that would allow you to run a second "normal" program under Finder? I
certainly haven't heard of anything that does that (and since the DA exists
inside the first applications heap, I'm not sure it could...) You may find
switcher to be a workable solution though.

Hi! all,

I am looking for a DA which can install or/and run an INIT/CDEV so that I
don't have to drag the INIT/CDEV into the systerm folder and reboot the
system. Since I have only got a 2.5M Mac+ with an external drive (without
hard disk), I won't be able to put a lot INIT/CDEV into the system folder,
but I do need some of them from time to time (like DiskDouble). I hate
to drag them into the system folder and reboot the system, again and again. Can
any people out there tell me if such a toy is available? If
not, can any smart programmers out there write one?

Another similar question: Are there any DA which can run an application
software? I don't use multifinder usually (I only have 2.5M memory and need to
take at least 800K as a RAM disk), but I occasionally need to run
another SMALL application (I know I won't be able to run another LARGE
application). Is such a toy availabe?

Your help would be highly appreciated.

That's Init31... That's about all I know on the subject...
