Has anyone dealt with Mail-order houses for SCSI Hard Drives? I am thinking about buying a Syquest 45MB removable cartridge drive for a Mac. After going through a few magazines I am facing a reliability-security v. price dilemma. MacWarehouse (who I've dealt with and have heard positive things about generally) has some good equipment and prices which are lower than that of a local computer store. They sell the DataPak by Mass Microsystems and the PowerUser for ~$750. Of all the advetisers in MacWeek magazine, a place called ClubMac in Irvine,CA has the best deal at $535 including a $70 cartridge plus $18 FedEx 2nd Day Air. Each advertiser basically packages the Syquest mechanism with their own case, power supply, SCSI ports, cables, and formatting software. Supposedly the cartridges are compatible with all the Syquest drives. Has anyone dealt with ClubMac or know how reliable these mail-order houses are regarding service? They have had ads in MacWeek since at least Oct. 1989 so they have at least been in business that long, for what it's worth. If you have any opinions/experience with Syquest drives please let me know what you've heard. >> Has anyone dealt with Club Mac<<
Yes, my brother, dad & I have all gotten drives from Club Mac
The service is great-and no hassels and second quality merchandise.
My brother had a Quantum go bad that he had gotten from Club Mac-
He had a another drive back in 6 days.No problems.
I highly recommend them.
