[comp.sys.mac.wanted] Mah Jong

Is there a version of this for the Mac? I've looked in all of the
usual ftp sites (except simtel) and can't find it.

Thanks.

Look for a commercial game called "Shanghai". It sells for about $25.
If you like Mah Jong, you will love the implemenation in Shanghai.

Actually, "Shanghai" is not an implementation of Mah Jong, rather it is a
puzzle game that uses Mah Jong "pies" (Unless there is a new version of
Shanghai that implements the actual game of Mah Jong). To my knowledge, there
is no Mah Jong game for the Macintosh (at least not on this side of the
pacific). On the other hand, "Shanghai" is a very entertaining game that would
be worth checking out.

Or, you might look for "GunShy," which is like Shanghai, only better and
FREE at better archives everywhere.

I am grossly biased, because I wrote Gunshy. But MacUser and MacWorld
have given it very positive reviews, too...

There's another game that uses the tiles but isn't mah-johngg, and that's
Ishido: The Way of Stones. Beautiful graphics! (color required) And the
sounds are nice too. The "collector's edition" of this game was reviewed
some time ago (a year, maybe?) in MacUser--Accolade markets the mass-
market version.

I bought Shanghai for my unenlightened brother (he has a 386 DOS machine)
for Christmas. I'd like to have it on my Mac IIsi, but calls to mail-order
houses revealed that it doesn't come in a color version for the Mac and
will probably break on the si anyway. Does anyone know if this is the
latest word?
