[comp.sys.mac.wanted] Agricultural Accounting Package Wanted

henry@chinet.chi.il.us (Henry C. Schmitt) (02/20/91)

Being the Mac expert in my family, my sister called me up to ask
me a question; not knowing an answer, I'm now submitting it to
the net to see if someone can help me preserve my reputation as
a Mac know-it-all.

Anyway, she is looking for an agricultural accounting package.
Before you recommend your favorite checkbook program (I already
tried that :-) she needs the following:

It has to work on a cash basis, she says that most
accounting packages use an accrual (sp?) basis.
(No, I don't know the difference, I'm just a programmer.)

If possible, you should be able to tie expenses to crops.

She says there's a good package available on the (ack!) IBM-PC
called TerraSystem. If something like that exists for the Mac,
it would be great. There was also a system called AgData which
worked on both the Mac and that OTHER system. However the
company no longer supports the Mac; if anyone knows its status
(i.e. has another company started supporting it?) please let me
know.

In the mean time she's using Quicken, but she can't print invoices
with it. If anyone knows how to print invoices or if there's an
add on to do that...

Thanx for helping me keep my reputation for being a genius!!
