Would someone send me a binhexed copy of the Macintalk version that will work on the new machines? (Like the IIcx) The version I have, 28,552 bytes, created in 1983 (according to the GetInfo box), does NOT work at all. I don't know what the newest version is, either 1.31 or 2.0, depending on who you believe, but I would like one of them. The original version was released with the Macintosh software supplement for the original 128k Macs. When the Mac II came out, some poor soul went and hacked the machine code to get it to work with the II; I believe that's 1.31, while the original had no version number, but there are various copies floating around with all sorts of version numbers. The supposed `Version 2.0' is apparently a copy of 1.31 that someone futzed with. It is almost, but not quite, identical to 1.31; it appears to work identically save for that it crashes more often. If Macintalk doesn't work on your machine, then try figuring out if there's some INIT or something that's conflicting with it; failing that, you're out of luck. Apple gave up on Macintalk several years and two Sound Managers ago; it's a surprise to everyone that it still works even sometimes. << Brian >> | Brian S.
