[net.bugs.4bsd] Wanted - list of 4.1 bugs & fixes

tihor@acf4.UUCP (03/22/84)

There is always System V folks. Let AT&T do the bug fixing.

OK AT&T your Berkely enhancements are broken -- i.e. missing -- please
fix such very important (to our sites) functions as IP/TCP, shared
spooled queues, large memory model (>=6Mb text, >=6Mb date), demand
paging, etc.

Sheesh, if Bell offered most of what we use BSD for we'd switch, honest,
ditto many DARPA sites.

[ How much is a Bell Research Version 8 license anyway? :-) ]

Does anyone have a list of known bugs for 4.1BSD. Being relatively
new to the net I'm sure that I've missed many postings, and I would
appreciate it greatly if someone who has a reasonably complete list
would mail them to me.
		Thanks in advance.

Hey, 4.1 didn't have any bugs. Now, if you want to talk 4.2...

One of the more frustrating things about 4.2 was fixing again all of the bugs
I had found in 4.1.

I disagree. I think the most frustrating thing was fixing all the new
bugs introduced into programs that WORKED FINE in 4.1. Re-fixing things
was the *second* most frustrating thing. Then there was the third most
frustrating thing, then the fourth, then ...

Fine, once they fix the bug that S5 panics when it gets a Translation Not
Valid fault, instead of bringing in the missing page in off the disk.
4.1BSD and 4.2BSD don't seem to have any problem with this one... This bug
isn't even fixed on the 3B! No wonder DEC's stock went up ~3 points after
the announcement!
