[comp.sys.mac.wanted] Seeking troff to MS Word conversion utility

carsontr@dgp.toronto.edu (Carson T Schutze) (06/08/91)

(Apologies if this has been asked recently; I can't keep up with the
volume in these groups.)

I'm looking for a program to convert troff source files (ascii) into
MSWord-readable form as intelligently as possible. The destination format
could be anything MSWord understands, including RTF or I guess even
MacWrite. At a minimum, it should attempt to get paragraphing correct and
preserve bolding, italic, etc. Obviously, it won't deal with anything
approaching the full complexities of troff, but anything is better than
doing it all by hand.

Failing that, can anyone suggest how one might use global substitutions in
Nisus to do some of the grunt work, e.g. could it convert things of the form
"\fIblahblah\fR" into the string "blahblah" in italic?

Replies by e-mail only please; I will post a summary. Thanks.
