I am looking for a utility for the Mac that would allow me to change the file header to manually associate a file with a given application. Essentially, I am looking to forge a file header, so that rather than being a generic "document", the file can be a "MacSurf 4.91 document". I am hoping to find a public domain program, but I would also appreciate reviews of available commercial programs, along with what other functions they may have. (Any help on how to accomplish my task in any way would be appreciated) -- **************************************************************** ** '82 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim '66 Yamaha YDS3 250 AMA #578506 ** ** Gene Gotimer gotimer@oasys.dt.navy.mil ** ****************************************************************

Not sure that I understand you but to, "manually associate a file with a given application" you should simply change a files type/creator codes for the application of your choice. I do this with DiskTop (CE Software) or DiskTools III. Hope this helps! ->RJB ---
