Try setting the typestyle of the text to outline, and setting the fill for
the text object to nil.  I haven't tried this with Canvas 2.0, but it works
with several other programs.

Nope--that broke with version 2.0. You have to use the Bic copy mode 

(you know, the thing the manual tells you to experiment with to find
out what it does).

Sorry for the double post. I answered a reply to a question before I 
knew the question came from outside usa.

To get text white in Canvas, assign the Bic copy mode to it. I know, the
manual is no help. I got this from support right after 2.0 came out, but
it still didn't work. With 2.1 it seems to work more reliably (though I
have other problems with Canvas and Word that keeps me using SuperPaint
instead).
