After hearing a lot lately about the grouch and finder sounds, I decided to get both and check them out. Finder sounds was no problem but when I get grouch.hqx from sumex (/mac/init directory) BinHex converts it to a ~1K document called grouch. The original file on sumex is 181817 bytes. I have retrieved it several times, both with NCSA/BYU Telnet 2.3.2 and MacIP. I always get the same results. Normally when I un-BinHex something I either get a .sit file or a runnable program. Anyone know of a problem with this file on sumex? How 'bout another place I can get the grouch from? BTW, I have also been looking for Address Book. Where is it hiding? Thanks for any clues. I won't consume much bandwidth with this problem. It has probably been asked a hundred times before. I've been ftp-ing macware from sumex and most of it (80%) won't binhex without CRC errors. Some comes out OK so I assume my methods are correct. Could I be doing something wrong or is the software that flakey (utilities and games mostly)? Does FTP do its own error checking? Any advice appreciated. Perry Morrison
