[comp.sys.mac.apps] Word--relative style changes

"ps: while I am here, could someone tell me how to have each part of a
"big document (split for convenience) automatically updated when I
"modify the style sheet in one of them (I know, I would not have this
"problem with the PC version).

Yes, those of us who have used both have asked for a separate stylesheet
for years. Someone from Microsoft sent me e-mail and in response to yet
another plea, wrote "Noted." Maybe it will happen one day.

In this case, the other three parts of your document will not automatically
be updated, but it is rather trivial to open each of the other documents
and read in the modified style sheet. Just do an open in Define Styles and
"open" the document with the modified style sheet. Assuming the names are
the same in all pieces, the incoming styles modify the previous definitions.

"One modification only would be nice. (And I do not intend to change
"the Default file, since I do not want all the others documents on the
"disk to be modified as well!). Thanks for any clue.

Set Default affects only future documents.

" Another suggestion is to allow relative sizing of text (in style
" format) in addition to the absolute one used everytime. Eg, if Normal
" format is in 9 pts I want my Title format in, say, 12 pts, but if I
" switch Normal to 12 pts then I also want Title to grow to 16 (133%).
" I have even considered writing a C program to modify the RTF file, but
" macros would do that better, if available...
"
To accomplish this, I'd build two template documents with the two sets of
styles (100% and 133%). You'll have to figure out what you want in both
cases. Using the same technique as above, when you are ready to go to the
100% version, read in the styles from that template. I'm assuming you
have a regular style for body text and other appropriate styles for each
heading level.
