No dial out! Many weeks ago we booted up 4.2bsd on our Vax 11/750, and discovered to our chagrin that we had lost dial-out capability. Our U**x supplier says the reason is an obsolete modem they don't support. (You know who you are, guys!) After many phone calls to the supplier and many hacks at uucico, tip, and the kernal, we still can't dial out. We now throw ourselves on the mercy of Usenet. We are using a Racal-Vadic VA811 Automatic Calling Unit with three VA3480 Modems in a MACS chassis. The calling unit is in slots 15 and 16, the two dial-in modems are in slots 1 & 2 and 3 & 4, and the dial-out modem is in slots 5 & 6. Has anyone else had problems getting 4.2 to work with this modem, and if so, what were the fixes? If you have this arrangement and *didn't* have any problems, also please let us know.
