[comp.sys.mac.apps] reductions in word 4 counter-intuitive

pfr654@csc.anu.oz (08/27/90)

Something that really bugs me with the new version of word is that in
selecting a reduction to say 80% in the page setup, the program acts as if
you then have a pge which is 125% as big as you began with RATHER than just
reducing your page which has been setup correctly in a particular way WHEN
IT IS PRINTED.

I'll explain it again: Word 3 allowed one to set up an A4 page, say, and
then reduce it by 50% to give an A5 page, albeit not sideways (but on an
imagesetter you can get other than US letter/A4 page sizes). In word 4 if
you tell it to reduce to 50% it acts as if all of your text is reduced by
50%, without changing the printing area!

Can I change this without going back to word 3?
