| Greetings, I am having a problem w/ MS Word 4.0 TOC
|When the hidden text .c. method is used to generate a TOC, the
|following format results
| chapter 1 ..................... 1
| chapter 2 ..................... 5
| chapter 3 ..................... 10
|instead of
| chapter 1 ...................... 1
| chapter 2 ...................... 5
| chapter 3 ......................10
|i.e. the number is not lined up from the right margin. The problem is
|not with the style sheet, the style does define a right just. tab
|at the end, the problem is that Word is not inserting a tab after
|the dots.

If you're using the default toc styles, that's the problem. There is
a right tab at the end, but 1/4" before it (at 5-3/4") is a left tab,
which generates the dots and aligns the numbers. Note that between
the title (chapter 1, etc.) and the number is a single tab.

If you change the left tab at 5-3/4" to a right tab with the same
leader characters, things should work like you want them to. I'm
looking at the table of contents for a manual I did in Word right
now, and the numbers are all right justified, so I know it works!
