When using Claris CAD, is there a way to redirect the plotter output to a disk file? (Hmmm --- see what happes to folk that let their minds become corrupted by UNIX!? Let that be a lesson to you!). The way things are set up in our shop it would be real easy if we could do such a trick - plotter output to a file, ftp the file to our Sun disk server, and use a PC to copy the file to our plotter. -bill wlbrown@lbl.gov Disclaimer: These opinions are my own and have nothing to do with the official policy or management of L.B.L, who probably couldn't care less about employees who play with trains.

Via a user who cam in to get help with this procedure: She called Claris, and Claris recommended this: (this is 2nd hand so if there's a mistake, it is not Claris's fault; confirm directly with them if you have trouble). Cross connect your phone and printer ports with a null modem. Run Multifinder, Claris Cad, and Versaterm. Use Versaterm to record all incoming data to a file, then run Claris Cad and print. Close the Versaterm log file; you're done. I still can't decide whether this is elegant (very Unixish "right tool for the right job") or Rube Goldberg-esque.
