Just got off the phone to Microsoft, concerning the Word lockup problem. The phone support person I got this time claimed there is a known problem with Dove upgrades and Word4. She gave me Dove's number (800- 622-7627), and I called them. THEIR phone support person said it's really (yet another) Microsoft software bug, which caused a problem with chip-select timing on the SCSI board, and that they would send me a new prom that works around Microsoft's bug. I'm not sure that I quite follow the logic of their explanation, but I'm now waiting for a prom in the mail to see if that takes care of it. Of course, not all the people who posted the lockup problem had Dove upgrades, so this begs the question of why Word locks up on their SE/30's and Mac II's... Hi, this happened to me for the first time over the past weekend, I did not keep up with this thread before, so don't know if my solution has been mentioned before. I was working on a small doc. about 3 pages long, then Word just locked up when I wanted to load the help file. I increased the memory allocation to a couple hundred k larger than the suggested, then everything seems to be O.K. again. -- Fu-Lin Tsung Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 uucp: ...!{decvax,hplabs,ncar,purdue,rutgers}!gatech!prism!ae219fl Internet: ae219fl@prism.gatech.edu
