I am considering buying a style checker for the Mac and would be
interested in any comments people have about the packages on the
market.
Two packages I know of are:
Grammatik Mac (v2.0)
Sensible Grammar (v1.6.2)
Specific questions are:
How useful are they for academic writing vs buisness writing
Do they operate with MS word (4) files
Operate under multifinder (in the background)
Is is possible to turn off different features or checks.
Cost and a good place to buy them.

They find the odd real mistake but flag dozens of other things that are not really mistakes. If you are really picky, or a really bad writer the program will make your writing better.
