Then copy it back. It works on a >fx just fine. After reading this I started up my MacIIci to look at this preferences menu that I had never looked at before (curiousity killed the cat). Unfortunately, SuperPaint 2.0a all of a sudden didn't work (system hangs). Well, just this morning I had installed my new 8*24GC video board (the GC stands for Graphics Co-Processor). I will try this trick with the preferences....please wait.... ...yes-sir-re-bob, it now works (note: you do not copy SuperPaint back to the original Mac, only the preferences file). BTW, what is the latest version of SuperPaint? BTW, can you edit color patterns in SuperPaint? Hell, you should should be able to, you can do it in MacDraw. Previous to this I had a 8*24 video board (no GC). At first I tried to install both boards in my Mac (this should work, right?). Well, the 8*24GC would not drive the monitor (though the mac booted OK). I assumed that the 8*24GC was bad so I moved the monitor cable to the 8*24 (with a shutdown prior to the move for safety sake). Then the screen appeared but in 1 bit b/w (it was set for 256 color). So, I set the monitors cdev to 256 and rebooted. Then, the Mac gives me a system error (id=01) about half way through all the inits being loaded (right after mouse odometer). Now I know I have too many inits (23 at last count, most are more useful than mouse odometer {popchar is GREAT!}), but I was having no problems before adding the 8*24GC. So, I removed the 8*24 and rebooted with just the 8*24GC. At that point the monitor worked but was in 1 bit b/w again. I added the 8*24GC init and set the colors to 256, rebooted and all is now well. What troubles me is that the two cards cannot live together. Hey Apple, is this true? BTW, the 8*24GC init is animated. It is a rocket that blasts off the top of the screen. Very cool. BTW, After installing the 8*24GC I now get the choice of millions of colors. Why didn't I get this with the 8*24? I do not have the 32 bit quickdraw init installed as my IIci manual says that this is in ROM. The 8*24GC manual states that you MUST have 32 bit quickdraw installed (either init or ROM).
