I would like to be able to mix digitized sounds and record it on a video tape, to go with some computer animation. Many of the sounds would have to be synchronized with some sort of pre-arranged signal to co-ordinate them with certain motions (such as hoofbeats) of the creatures in the animation. The preference would be some setup where I can quickly and easily get some of the basic sounds on the tape, and do more complex stuff later if necessary. I'm pretty sure something like Performer can take in a MIDI event file (which we can create) and sync it with the video tape, but Performer is unable to generate anything other than MIDI events (as far as I know), so we would have to get a separate digitizer, MIDI connections, etc. to make the actual sounds. I would like to be able to use the Mac (or one of the other machines in the lab) to do the actual synthesis as well, if possible. Any suggestions? Please send replies to ringrose@ai.mit.edu, or I'll probably miss them. - Robert Ringrose MIT Legged Motion Lab ringrose@ai.mit.edu
