I am running MSWord 4.0B on a mac SE, 20 meg hard drive, 4 meg ram. The size allocation for word is 1024kbytes. While doing global changes, specifically from "^pnotes: " to "^t" the application unexpectedly quits. If I do a global change from "^pnotes: " to just "^p" it works fine, but then I have to go through a couple other shenanigans to get rid of the ^p and replace it with the ^t that I actually do want. I have cranked the application size up to 1600 k, have shut off multi-finder, and along the way all other applications that might be taking up disk space. I am not running any unusual INITS or cdevs that would affect the performance of my disk, I even have installed Heap Tool to regulate the system heap to no avail. Anyone have any ideas as to what is happening, or why, or how to alleviate this problem, it causes a great deal of frustration, and of course eats up time to go through the extra work around steps. Any clues, ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Why don't you email to save bandwith on the Net. thanks in advance, -tom tpfender@ucsd.edu tpfender@BITNET ucsd!tpfender
