DiskFit 2.0 will, under some circumstances, fail a memory allocation and crash without providing the user with a warning or graceful exit. I was told by SuperMac tech support that this problem is very rare, but I encountered it on my first two attempts to use the program. They suggested that I run the program under "UniFinder" or else reset the MultiFinder partition size to 2 Meg. I did the latter and succesfully completed my backup. -- Julian Vrieslander Neurobiology & Behavior, W250 Mudd Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca NY 14853 INTERNET: eacj@theory.tn.cornell.edu BITNET: eacj@crnlthry UUCP: ..cornell!batcomputer!eacj

I have had this same problem occur while backing up our 80MB file server that has about 4000 files with version 1.5.1. I also increased the partition size, which made the problem go away. I attributed the problem to a large number of files being backed up. -- William C. DenBesten is denbeste@bgsu.edu or denbesten@bgsuopie.bitnet
