Hello netters ! I have been trying to retrieve some GIF formatted files from an FTP site. They are scanned images (I think by a DOS-based system), but I presume that GIF files are always device independent (?). After setting the connection for binary transfer, the files was FTPed to my site's VAX and downloaded via White Knight (and CKermit on the VAX) to my Mac II. The file opens, but is gibberish. What step am I missing ? I have used no filtering, and I assume that CKermit has no probelms with binary data ... Has anyone gotten (via FTP) GIF files and tried to open them using Giffer (I tried using version 1.08) ? Will Giffer for the Mac read GIF files from other computer types ?
