I asked a few days ago concerning the problem that when Dayton font is used to get special Greek letters, these letters is printed as integral signs on a LaserWriter. I have got several replies through the net. I tried turn-off 'Font Substitution'; I tried using different systems(6.0.3, 6.0.4 and 6.0.7). I tried advoid font conflicts by removing all removable fonts from the system. But the problem persists. I know I can get these special Greek letters from other applications or fonts. But out of curiosity, I want to know why this particular font can not be printed correctly on a LaserWriter while other fonts that I have tried, if 'unlimited downloadable fonts in a document' is selected, can be printed correctly. Here is a little more description about Dayton font. 10, 12 and 14 point Dayton font are available in the system. Other sizes of Dayton font are supposed to be scaled from some other sizes or fonts. But I can see that 9 point Dayton font represents integral signs on the screen. 10 point Dayton font represents regular English alphabet on the screen. 12 point Dayton font represents regular Greek letters on the screen. Different sizes of Dayton font represent different symbols. And the problem is that although different sizes provide different symbols on the screen, all these symbols are printed according to the screen format of the 9 point Dayton font. That is, every symbol has been printed as integral sign scaled from the 9 point font. The worst thing is, the 9 point Dayton font is not in the system, it is created from somewhere else, which I don't know! What is wrong? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! Li
