[comp.sys.mac.apps] Any serious users of MacroMind Director?

omalley@mace.cc.purdue.edu (John O'Malley) (01/15/91)

A colleague on campus, Sharon Katz (katz@stable.ecn.purdue.edu) is looking
for other serious users of MacroMind Director. Sharon is a designer who
creates computer animations for educational videotapes. She's simply
looking for other people who do work similar to hers ... Sharon would like
to create an informal MacroMind Director users' group, so to speak.

If you use this product for real productions and would like to share
your experiences, please write to Sharon at katz@stable.ecn.purdue.edu.

Thanks.

I sent Sharon mail, but thought it would be appropriate to post as well.
There are two newsgroups that will probably have a numerically small but
proportionately high number of people interested in "authoring" and such...
comp.ivideodisc (=interactive videodisc) and comp.multimedia (brand new).

One of the things I've liked about c.i so far is that unlike most of the
newsgroups, it's not fanatical about restricting subject matter--hard to
be narrow when you're talking about a field that includes graphics,
animations, text, video, databases, and the kitchen sink... Comp.multimedia
was formed at the behest of some who felt that comp.ivideodisc was too
restrictive a title ("What about those of us who don't have a videodisc
setup?" My feeling: "If you want to talk about animation, interface design,
stuff like that, this is still the place, because nearly all of us are
doing all those things too," but hey, I havent't been here long enough
to catch a serious attack of the "We MUST stay on-topic!" virus...)
