Around Christmas time the word went out that an upgrade of Stuffit Deluxe was being mailed free to registered users. I'm a registered user, and have received no such thing. Should I have gotten something by now? -- - Rich Holmes rich@suhep.bitnet Syracuse U. Should I have >gotten something by now? I just received mine on Friday, a day after we bought a new copy at work. The small floppy-mailer included two disks and a cover letter. The reason it's taking so long is that Aladdin shipped it out in bulk mail, which, according to their rep, "takes 10-15 days". The new copy we bought at work included a 23-page "StuffIt Deluxe 2.0 Addendum." Funny, but that wasn't in my upgrade package. Worse yet, is that it was version 2.0 which has already been superceeded by version 2.0.1 (evidently there's a bug which doesn't convert 1.5.1 archives correctly). Aladdin has promised an updater, but I haven't seen it as of yet. As for speed, I'll leave that until I'm done testing and timing, but it looks like you'll all be "treated" to some more rantings and ravings. (HINT: I've recently switched to Compactor...) I still say the Stuffit Engine is worth it for my needs; batch zmodem downloads with White Knight are so much nicer when it *also* unstuffs things. I tend to let them run overnight... When Bill Goodman comes out with a Compactor Engine that works with WK11, then I'll look at switching...but until then... -- [ Christopher Davis - <ckd@cs.bu.edu> - <..!bu.edu!cs.bu.edu!ckd> ] A message destined for delivery in *your* domain is fair game for anything you may want to do, up to and including translating the entire message, header and all, into Swahili. -- chip@tct.uucp (Chip Salzenberg)

The updater application has been out since before MacWorld and should be found on most of the large information services such as CompuServe, America Online, GEnie and AppleLink. The one on America Online has an upload date of January 8th. John -- John A. I looked on Disk 2 briefly and saw Disinfectant 2.4 and some other "stuff". Well, I'll at least stick by this one as my ground is already pretty shaky...my timing tests so far, with the same options on, same compression modes, have SD 2.0 slower than 1.0. True enough you can use "Best Guess" which is faster, but that's chaning other variables as well... Could someone please send me a copy of the StuffIt Deluxe 2.0.1 Updater? I've looked on various FTP sites, but apparently the file hasn't been uploaded yet.
