[comp.sys.mac.apps] Mac Write II question

vito@ucscb.ucsc.edu (66115000) (01/25/91)

I have a 50 page document that I created on my own Mac SE using MacWrite II. I took the document to a local copy center with a laser printer. When
I chose print, I was intructed to first choose Page Setup. I did so and the entire document was altered (made longer) so what used to be on page 33 is
now in 36 and so on throught the document. I checked the margins from the
Format>Document menu and they were the same.
     What's going on?

You're problem isn't with MWII, it's caused by the fact that laser writer
pages are shorter, that is seem to have a smaller print space than image writer
pages. Thus causing your document to become longer. Most times this isn't a
problem unless you are inserting tables or diagrams or are constrained by a
specific length. In the future this surprise can be avoided by typing the
whole document in a laser writer format. Go to the chooser and pick laser
writer. Save your document and the new specs will be saved with it. When you
proof your document on an imagewriter, pick "Tall Adjusted" and this will print
your paper in a laser writer format and keep the margins and such the way they
will look on a laser writer.
