Our student chapter of ACE (Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs) is planning on purchasing Macintosh business software for the chapter's SE. Our intention is to provide a system for our members to use in starting up their own business. Not only would spreadsheet software, inventory control, etc. be of importance but also small business organizational software, management software, etc. would be on our list. I'd be interested in hearing net-user's experience with different packages under this field of software. Any "can't live without" software in this catagory? Any real lemons to avoid? Any real standards the industry lives by? Additionally, has anyone had positive experiences with particular companies in terms of educational discounts? (I know that we've been quite happy with the educational discount MicroSoft provides on Word and Works). Since many of our members will be moving out into their own business and purchasing software based on their experience within the organization, I would imagine that there might be some opportunities for educational pricing. If you email your replies and there is interest, I will summerize and post the results.
