[comp.sys.mac.apps] MasterJuggler vs. Suitcase

warner@scubed.com (Ken Warner) (02/22/91)

I've used Suitcase II to slim down my System. I find it a little
awkward to use. Seems I don't know how to automatically open
a suitcase with a given application and therefore have to open
fonts and da's manually. For example: I have to open the suitcase
I have for fonts when I start Word.

Does MasterJuggler allow one to store fonts and da's outside the
System and open them with particular applications?

Not that I'm aware of. I have MasterJuggler and like it a lot - it
does many other things besides managing Fonts and DAs.

You could load those DAs and fonts directly into the application you
want to associate them with using Apple's Font/DA mover (hold down the
option key when clicking the open button in the main dialog - this
allows access to applications as well as to system files and font or DA
suitcases) or with ResEdit. DAs loaded into applications will appear
under the apple menu when that application is active, but not at other
times. I don't know if this will circumvent the 15 DA restriction or
not - I use this technique even while using MJ.
