I'd like to know if anyone could point me towards a source for the following applications, preferably in the public domain: * A cdev or da Macintosh version of Unix "grep." It should have the standard Mac interface (as good as Find File, for instance), be able to search through many types of text files (e.g., Word4.0, MacWrite, TeachText, MPW, plain TEXT, unspecified, ...), and have all the usual options (case sensitive or not, line number in file, wildcards, ...). I've seen a couple of limited implementations, but hope that better exists. * An INIT or application that can read time from some external source and update the system clock. It would be best if it did this via MacTCP. Any other information on useful Unix-like utilities (e.g., diffmk, diff) would also be appreciated. Reply via e-mail to: dwj@nvuxr.cc.bellcore.com If I get enough positive responses, I'll post the list back to the net. Thanks! David Jarrett
