YES !! There really is a PIG, in ResEdit that is.

I saw this explanation and thought others that have seen comments about
the famous PIG mode.

Pig Mode, available in ResEdit 2.1 and later apparently was made to help
the ResEdit team find bugs.

It is invoked by holding down Shift, Option, and Command keys while sel-
ecting the "about ResEdit." It is a diagnostic mode that compacts and
also purges memory while ResEdit is running.

I'm posting this only cuz my mail to you, Dave, came back "host unknown".

Sorry to bother you with my apparent stupidity, but I use ResEdit 2.1 and
can't seem to make my way into "pig mode". When I hold down the option key,
the "about" item disappears from the apple menu. So I pull down the menu
first, then hold down those three keys, and I get the same ole box. I know
there are a couple of "pig" alerts -- I should be seeing those, right? And
I know there's an "alternate about" box that's also an ALRT, but I can't get
that to appear either. Clues?

Yep -- it _was_ my stupidity. Charles Allen set me straight with a mail
message a few minutes after my post. It was SuitCase II that was nuking
the "About ResEdit" menu item. Command-option-shift works fine, and as an
FYI, holding down command-option will bring up the "alternate about box".
