[comp.sys.mac.apps] Printing Postscript files from WORD 4.0

clee@csli.Stanford.EDU (Charles Lee) (04/26/91)

I have followed the directions in the Word 4.0 manual on how to print
postscript code/file by typing/importing the code/file and the applying
the PostScript style to the code. This makes the postscript code hidden
text. I then print the file with "print hidden text" on from the print
dialog. However, the printer still prints the code as text rather than
treating the text as Postscript code. Is this some kind of major bug,
or am I doing something wrong. You can read pg 284-288 of the User Guide.

If in doubt it's not a bug: when you say "print hidden text" it will
in fact print said hidden text. If you want the postscript code to be
interpreted and executed but not printed then "print hidden text"
should be off.

Your problem is with selecting the "print hidden text". This will cause Word
to print the postscript code instead of acting upon it as postscript code.
Disable it and it will print as you desire.

It works for me. Make sure you are using the style PostScript exactly as I
typed, Postscript will not work. Select the whole document with
Option-Command-M before choosing the PostScript style. Make sure the Print
Hidden Text is NOT checked.

Printing PostScript does work but it takes a little experimenting to get
the setup correct.
