I have about a 350 page manuscript that has extensive single and double quoting, all in "ASCII" format (e.g. as you see here). I would like to be able to change them to matching typographic quotes (e.g. `` and '') but *really don't want to do it by hand* [the very idea fills me with great horror, frankly!] Is there some way to accomplish this? I've looked through the documentation I have with Microsoft Word (4.0b) and it talks extensively about how nice smart quotes are, but doesn't make reference to how to *do* it. Please respond via email. Thanks! -- Dave Taylor Intuitive Systems Mountain View, California taylor@limbo.intuitive.com or {uunet!}{decwrl, apple}!limbo!taylor

First, you replace the initial quotes (<space>") with <space>`` (the key combination is Option-[ for the opening double quote). The second time through, replace "<space> with ''<space> (use Shift-Option-[ for the closing curly quote). Works like a charm. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Niski niski@reed.edu Mac Support Coordinator Reed College, Portland, OR 97202 503-777-7525
