A recent post inquired about a book for Resedit v2.1 I found a book called "Reference for Resedit 2.1" The author is listed as Apple, and its published by Addison-Wesley, ISBN# 0-201-577-682. They currently have three on order, none in the store. If interested, call Irvine Sci-Tech Books, (714) 733-1002. Good Luck, Andrew Laurence eaeu137@orion.oac.uci.edu

Organization: Computer Services Centre, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. Say, Can anyone tell me where I can get a hold of ResEdit v2.1 on the internet cos I feel like I'm missing out in a big way. Any help appreciated. Please reply to jww502@csc2.anu.edu.au. And BTW, I have nothing to do with Computer Services Centre, I just can't figure out how to work this editor (I usually use a Mac for Mail/News etc.) In fact It'l be a miracle if this article gets posted !

I saw a book called "ResEdit Complete" in a B. D. Dalton bookstore and it contained a disk with ResEdit 2.1 on it. By the way I checked sumax in the info-mac/tech folder, a lot of addons for ResEdit are there but I did not see the program itself. The cost of ResEdit Complete is $29.99 (I think.) Hopes this helps some of the people looking for ResEdit.

I'm not talking about one of those PD/Shareware INITs. I'm talking about modifying the actual thinggie in ResEdit. Two questions about this. 1) Does ResEdit Complete happen to mention this? 2) If not, am I gonna hafta resort to Inside Macintosh?

I know this question has been asked a couple thousend times here, but I have never seen the answer. Is there any FTP site (not APDA or APPLE LINK, I have no access to them) which has resedit 2.1? I tried in sumex and umich, and had no luck. Can someone please email this info to me? I would really appreciate, I am using resedit 2.0bx which I think has many bugs. Thanks, Guillermo Scharffenorth scharff@ucunix.san.uc.edu

ResEdit 2.1 is licensed software - so look on commercial networks or maybe in a user group's distribution - and the book about ResEdit 2.1 has a copy tightly wrapped into the back - so tightly glued in that getting it out without destroying the back cover is a challenge. By the way, make a duplicate copy of any resource file before you use this program and frequently save it, especially if doing anything with - hmm, everything I tried failed at least once corrupting the resource file, didn't it now - keep copious numbers of backups, that's a good boy. Oh yes, you'll probably have to pay for the book. -- Laird J. Heal The Usenet is dead! Here: laird@chinet.chi.il.us Long live the Usenet!

At the risk of stating the obvious, its not a big deal to slit the plastic with a razor blade and take the disk out. There is no real need to remove the plastic is there? * Origin: White Mailer Test Point (1.0d6) (1:282/22.510)

If you're interested in another book with Resedit 2.1 (and some cool resources), the 2nd edition of Zen and the Art of Resource Editing, published by BMUG, has just come out. It's a little less expensive than "Resedit Complete" ($20/$15 for BMUG members/$5 off if you bought the first edition). Disclaimer: I've been a volunteer with BMUG since 1985, and know the editors and several of the writers. It's still a great book :-).
