I'm trying to evaluate FrameMaker for the lab that I work in. I have a few questions that the demo copy hasn't been able to answer. 1. Is 3.0 out for the Mac? How much better than 2.1 is it? How is the table support? Importing of files? Is there an outliner yet? 2. Are there FTP sites for templates? 3. How easy is it to share files between the Mac and Sun versions? Are Mac graphics retained? Is it reasonable to switch back and forth between the Mac and Sun versions on a day by day basis? 4. Does anyone have a way to easily use EndNote with FrameMaker. Based on my initial evaluation the lack of bibliography support appears to be the biggest drawback. In fact, unless we can easily use EndNote (or something similar), I doubt that we can justify the switch to FrameMaker. (I know that there are some bib packages for the Sun version, bet we need one for the Mac version too.) 5. How do you cross-reference figure and table numbers? I just want the auto-number from the figure caption, not "Figure" or the caption text. 6. How well do the book features work, i.e., cross-referencing and auto-numbering across chapters of a book that are kept as separate files. If anyone can answer these questions I would appreciate it. The demo copy times out at the end of this month, so I need to finish the evaluation soon. ---Todd
